Window Care & Maintenance FAQs
Sunrise has taken great care in our window designs and details so you can spend less time yourself in care and cleaning. For instance, we use a 100% virgin vinyl that is impregnated with the color so it never scratches off—no maintenance paint touch ups needed. And with sashes that easily lift completely out and tilting features, you won’t ever need to climb a ladder to clean again.
But because windows do get dirty, here are some simple ways to keep them looking as good as the day they were installed!
Clean window glass and frames with a mixture of mild dish soap* and water. Abrasive or caustic cleaners or solvents are never recommended because they might cause permanent damage to the frame finish. Mild, nonabrasive soaps* are usually safest for most dirt and stain removal.

Any common household glass cleaner or mild detergent will clean your Sunrise window glass. Do NOT use any petroleum-based cleaner or solvent. We recommend using a soft cloth, but a paper towel is fine.
Below are some tips for cleaning the vinyl frames and sashes of your Sunrise windows without damaging them. While it is hard to damage one of our frames, it still can happen if you use harsh cleaners or super-abrasive sponges.
- Clean window frames with a mixture of mild dish soap* and water. Abrasive or caustic cleaners or solvents are never recommended because they might cause permanent damage to the frame finish. For instance, if you have a stain on your frame, don’t reach for the bleach.
- Always rinse completely with clean water and wipe dry.
- Check to make certain that drainage or “weep” holes are always clear of dirt and obstructions—both inside and outside the window in the bottom of the frame.

Like all windows, Sunrise windows also need regular cleaning to look their best. But don’t worry—we’ve done all we can to minimize the time and effort you’ll spend doing so.
How often you’ll need to clean your windows boils down to preference and local weather conditions. Most windows benefit from a quick wipe-down once every month and a thorough wash once every year.
Sunrise windows require very little maintenance. We suggest doing a quick interior inspection of your windows during your spring and fall cleaning to ensure your windows keep looking and performing their best.
Our premium, high-tech vinyl windows are designed so they never need staining or painting once we install them in your home. We want our customers to have as little to worry about as possible, so Sunrise windows are virtually maintenance-free inside and out.
If you chose to have your windows factory painted, the paint is warranted for 20 years. After that, you can refinish with vinyl paint from your local paint store.
Sunrise windows are designed to last and will require very little maintenance or service. However, if you do run into any type of service issue, you should contact the local dealer/installer you purchased the window from. They will be able to order the needed service parts for your Sunrise window.
If your dealer is no longer in business, you can reach us through our website and a service tech will contact you with information on ordering parts. In accordance with our Warranty, Sunrise will ship parts to the closest dealer at no charge. If the homeowner chooses to have it shipped to their home address then there will be a shipping charge that will depend on the part shipped out. On rare occasions, other Sunrise dealers will perform services for dealers that are no longer in business. In cases like this, the Sunrise Dealer performing the service may charge the homeowner a fee to perform this service.
